History of Jackets
A jacket is considered a short version of the classic coat. The jacket comes from the French word jacquette, which pertains to a light or short tunic. The first jacket came into existence during the Middle Ages when it was a tighter version of a tunic worn by men from the working class. It was only in the 2000s that the jacket came to cover a wider variety of outer garments.
